Helping Kids Make Friends

Sammie helps lonely kids. They feel sad… They need a friend. Sammie helps
them find friends!

How does Sammie help? She gives buddy benches to schools. What are they?
Well, buddy means friend. And benches are long seats for two or three people.
Buddy benches are seats for friends!
Sammie 怎麼幫助他們呢? 她捐好朋友長板凳給學校。Buddy的意思是朋友，Bench
是兩到三個人可以坐的板凳。好朋友板凳就是用來交朋友的。

How do buddy benches work? When a kid feels lonely, she sits on one. Other
kids know she needs a friend. They can sit with her or play with her. They
can be friends!
小朋友感到孤單的時候，可以坐在好朋友長板凳上，其他的小朋友就會知道她需要朋友，會跟她坐在一起、跟她玩，成為朋友。

Sammie learned about buddy benches when she was eight years old. She wanted a
bench for her school. She wanted one that was kind to the Earth.
Sammie八歲的時候知道好朋友長板凳，她希望她的學校也有，她也希望能夠對地球友善。

A company takes plastic bottle caps to make plastic benches. So Sammie asked
everyone for bottle caps. She got 725 kilograms of caps! That made three
buddy benches!
有一家公司把塑膠瓶蓋做成長板凳，所以Sammie跟人家要瓶蓋，收集多達725公斤，然後做了三個長板凳。

Sammie didn't stop at three benches. She gave more than 200 benches in the
USA and one in Africa! And she's still helping!

Team of Teens Gets E-Waste Recycled

We use many things that need electricity. There are computers, smartphones,
TVs, and many more things. When we don't use them anymore, they become
e-waste.
我們每天都會用到很多電子產品。電子產品被丟棄就成了電子垃圾。

Throwing away e-waste makes our land, water, and air dirty. But e-waste can
be recycled! Then people can make new things!
電子垃圾會汙染環境，但這些垃圾可以被回收再利用！

Taiwan is very good at recycling e-waste! But many other places need help.
台灣很會回收電子垃圾喔！

Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates. Like all cities, it has lots of
e-waste.

A 14-year-old girl helps get Dubai's e-waste recycled. She works with
teenagers from six schools.

a year. People bring their e-waste to the girl's house. The team sends it to
be recycled.

One Sea's Seagrass Balls Can Hold Many Plastic Pieces

There is a big sea. It is below Europe and above Africa. It has big flat
places on the bottom. They are meadows.
在歐洲跟非洲大陸的中間有一片叫做地中海的海域。地中海海底有很多寬闊的草原。

The meadows have seagrass. Seagrass has long green leaves. Fish swim there.
Crabs crawl there. It is a quiet, safe home for them.
海底草原有長長的海草。對這些小魚跟螃蟹來說，這裡是安靜又安全的家。

But the waves bring plastic. The plastic is from bags, bottles, and other
trash. The plastic breaks into smaller and smaller pieces in the sea. It
makes the sea dirty.
但是海浪也會帶來塑膠垃圾。塑膠袋和塑膠瓶被海水打成小小的碎片，汙染海洋。

But seagrass leaves can catch many very small plastic pieces. The leaves help
clean the sea!
海草的長葉子可以困住這些小碎片，淨化海水！

When seagrass gets old, the leaves fall off. They roll and roll together.
They become brown balls. These are called Neptune balls. Neptune balls can
hold many very small plastic pieces!

When the waves are big, they push some Neptune balls to beaches. The sea
gives people's plastic trash back to them!

Neptune balls cannot clean all the plastic in the sea. But they are one way
nature helps the sea!

Camping on Greenland's Ice

Ice sheets are very big and thick ice. They are not in an ocean. They are on
land.
陸地上的冰原是厚厚的大冰塊構成的！

The Earth has two ice sheets. The bigger one is in Antarctica. The smaller
one is in Greenland.
地球上有兩大冰原，最大的冰原在南極洲，另一個比較小的則在格陵蘭。

Greenland's ice sheet is the size of 47 Taiwans! It is three kilometers thick
in some places!

A man went camping with some people on Greenland's ice sheet. The ice has
