U.S. President Donald Trump says talks with Iran appear to be progressing well, although he offered no details.
Trump told a Las Vegas television station that Tehran wanted to negotiate and that discussions seemed to be "working out quite well."
The Iran war is now in its sixth month, and the two sides have yet to reach a permanent agreement.
Trump has repeatedly said a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is close.
The waterway has remained blocked since the conflict began in February, disrupting a key global energy route.
Iran has warned it would strike critical infrastructure across the region if the United States attacks again.
Human rights and legal experts have also criticized Trump's threats against civilian infrastructure, saying such attacks could violate international humanitarian law.
