DPP marks Tiananmen anniversary

The DPP is marking the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.

In remarks online, President Lai Ching-te called on the Chinese government to
"confront the wounds of its history."

His party, meanwhile, slammed China for both distorting history, and for
continuing to repress the free speech and human rights of the Chinese people.

They also called on the public to continue to protect Taiwan free and
democratic way of life.

At the same time, premier Zhuo Rong Tai remarked that marking the anniversary
of Tiananmen is not just a remembrance of history.

Rather, he said it's a means of protecting human rights and the shared duty
to uphold democracy and liberty.
