NZ to express concern to China over lawmaker ban following TW visit

Now turning to international news...

New Zealand says, it plans to express concern to Beijing, after 4 lawmakers
were banned from visiting China for a year.

That's after they visited Taiwan last month, in a trip that's been made for
decades.

This is the first time such bans have been imposed on New Zealand lawmakers.

China has previously hit lawmakers from other countries with similar
sanctions over Taiwan, but this is the first time such an action has been
taken against New Zealand partliamentarians.

Beijing also demanded that they apologize.

Two of the lawmakers rejected calls to do so, saying it was "insulting" and
that New Zealand values the right to engage with partners abroad.

One of them added that, if the cost of engaging with international partners
is to be banned from China for a year, he would "pay that price."
