TSMC shares hit record high as Taiwan index surges past 42-thousand points

Taiwan's stock market roared to a new all-time high in early trading today.
The benchmark weighted index surged nearly 993 points, briefly touching 42-thousand-131 points.
The rally was driven by chipmaker T-S-M-C, which hit a new record share price of 2-thousand-345 NT, up 95 NT on the day.
T-S-M-C's U-S-listed A-D-R also set a new all-time high of 419-point-7 US dollars in overnight trading, boosted by a strong earnings report from A-M-D that sent the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up more than 4 percent.
T-S-M-C's market cap now stands at 60-point-81 trillion NT.
The company projects second-quarter revenue between 39-billion and 40-point-2-billion US dollars, with full-year 2026 dollar revenue expected to grow more than 30 percent.
