Cannabis Farm Busted in Taoyuan

Police say they have seized 4,200 cannabis plants following a raid on a
cannabis farm in Taoyuan.

Eight people have been arrested in connection with the case, six of whom have
identified as undocumented female migrant workers from Indonesia.

The other two are Taiwanese men, who are believed be members of a drug
cartel.

According to law enforcement authorities, in addition to the plants, police
also found dried cannabis buds and drying equipment.

It's being described as Taiwan's "biggest ever marijuana seizure."

And officials are estimating that the plants and buds found on the Taoyuan
farm were worth billions of New Taiwan dollars.

Local authorities says the marijuana was being grown on rented farmland near
the Army's 601st Aviation Brigade in the city's Longtan District.
