MND: Armed forces still committed to using Taiwan pork in meals

Defense Minister has stressed that the armed forces are mainly using locally produced pork in their meals.
Qiu Guo-zheng says the Ministry of National Defense signed contracts with food suppliers last year and the purchase of ingredients will follow the contracts.
His clarification comes after reports that a military base bought pork with Taiwan labels but the content was actually imported from the United States.
Qiu says there's nothing wrong with that as the imported pork was allowed in processed meat products and that the contract had specified that cannot contain ractopamine.
He also notes that all restaurants under the MND supervision clearly marks the place of origin for pork, adding that his ministry absolutely won't go out and choose to buy American pork.
