EY: No Electricity Shortage
Posted on 2018-08-10 19:27:13
With local businesses once again voicing concerns about power supply, the
government is emphasizing that there will be no electricity shortage.

Media reports claim that the electricity issue could have a negative impact
on the development of Taiwan's semiconductor manufacturing industry.

The report also says some businesses think a return to nuclear power is the
only way to ensure a stable electricity supply.

Responding to these reports, executive yuan spokesperson Kolas Yotaka says
the semiconductor industry will continue to invest in Taiwan.

She adds that the government's goal of going nuclear-free by 2025 has not
changed.

As for concerns about power supply, she says the government is aiming to have
a 10-percent generation capacity surplus by next year, which is the level
businesses are seeking.
