MOFA Extending NSP Visa Free Trials
Posted on 2018-07-12 14:55:13
MOFA is extending visa-free trials for several New Southbound Policy Target
Countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the extensions will be for Thailand,
Brunei, and the Philippines.

The extension will be for one year, meaning the program will now last until
the end of next July.

Under the visa-waiver program, citizens of those countries can come to Taiwan
for up to 14 days without needing a visa, down from the previous 30 days.

They will need a passport that is valid for at least six months, have a
return or outbound plane ticket, and a Taiwanese address or contact person.

They also can't have a record of bad behavior from Taiwanese authorities.

MOFA says the New Southbound Policy is meant to attract more tourists and
business from target countries, as well as increase people-to-people
exchanges.

Tourism Bureau statistics show over 2.28 million visitors from Southeast Asia
came to Taiwan last year, up over 27 percent compared to the year before.
