Premier Lai on transitional justice/Taoyuan Magistrate
Posted on 2017-12-07 19:42:13
Premier William Lai says the establishment of a Transitional Justice
Committee will be done as soon as possible.

Under the newly-passed Transitional Justice Promotion Act, the Cabinet should
set up such an organization with the task of clearing up symbols of
authoritarian power, retrying judicial cases deemed as illegal, and
declassifying political files, among other things.

Lai says Minister without Portfolio Lou Bing-cheng will be in charge of the
preparation work and the choosing of members for this committee.

Meanwhile Taoyuan Magistrate Zheng Wen-can says the name Two Chiang Cultural
Park, which encompasses the mausoleums of former Presidents Chiang Kai-shek
and Chiang Jing-guo, will not change.

Zheng says the park, located in Tao-yuan, does not symbolize anything
authoritarian. As for the management of the mausoleums, he says it's the
National Defense Ministry's responsibility.

He also says all the roads using the name "Zhong-zheng," which is Chiang
Kai-shek's official name, will stay unchanged as well.
